Regulations and Agreements
The CEA provides the infrastructure for an exchange information and experience between its members. The CEA Fire and Theft specifications and the International Sharing Agreement demonstrate the important role the CEA plays in providing guidance on issues of interest to the European insurance sector.
CEA Fire/Theft specifications
At European level, the CEA provides specifications on security devices regarding fire protection systems and security protection systems. These CEA Fire/Theft specifications are available on the CEA website. They result from a joint cooperation between insurance undertakings’ experts and devices manufacturers and often inspire the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) afterward. International Sharing Agreement
The CEA has set up the International Sharing Agreement between Motor « Liability » and Motor « Own Damage » Insurers, that is intended to facilitate the management, between member companies, of case settlement with material consequences (damage to vehicles) from a collision involving at least two vehicles registered in two different countries one of which is insured for « damage ». International Convention for the Recovery of Stolen Vehicles (ICRV)
The International Convention for the Recovery of Stolen Vehicles (ICRV) was signed by the European insurance industry in 2006 to tackle vehicle crime. The CEA holds the secretariat of the ICRV framework and organises an annual meeting of the signatories, which allows for the exchange of best practices as well as discussion on ways to improve the functioning of the agreement.
